Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most.

If your question isn't here, ask us directly. We'll give you an honest answer, even when it's "that's not a good fit for us."

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Ashburn, Virginia and provide on-site support across the Washington, DC Metro Area, including Loudoun and Fairfax counties, Washington, DC, and nearby Maryland. We also support clients anywhere in the country remotely, and we're open to travel for projects outside our core area.

Do you replace our current IT provider, or work alongside our team?

Either. Many clients hand over IT completely under a managed agreement. Others have an internal IT person or team and bring us in for security tooling, projects, escalation, and strategy. That's our co-managed IT service.

How does your pricing work?

Managed IT is a flat monthly fee based on the people and devices we support, and projects are quoted at a fixed scope and fixed price. Anything outside the monthly fee is quoted and approved before work starts. Our pricing page explains this in detail.

What happens after I get in touch?

We'll set up a short call to understand your business, your current setup, and what's prompting the conversation. From there we review your environment and come back with clear recommendations and a written quote. There's no cost or obligation for that first conversation.

What does onboarding involve?

We document your environment: systems, accounts, licenses, vendors, and how your team actually works. We deploy our monitoring and security tools, fix urgent issues and security gaps, and agree priorities for the first few months. You get a clear picture of what you have, often for the first time.

What security tools do you deploy?

A layered stack: endpoint detection and response on every device, security operations center monitoring, email security and phishing protection, multi-factor authentication and access controls, patching, vulnerability scanning, and backup with tested recovery. The exact mix depends on your risk and requirements.

Can you help with compliance requirements?

Yes. We help businesses prepare for and maintain the technical controls behind frameworks like HIPAA, CMMC and NIST 800-171, SOC 2, and cyber insurance questionnaires. We're an IT and security partner rather than an auditor or certifying body, and we'll tell you plainly where you need one.

Do we have to sign up for everything at once?

No. Some clients start with a security assessment, a single project, or a migration, and move to a managed agreement later. We'll recommend the right starting point rather than the biggest one.

Do you offer one-time projects?

Yes. Server replacements, migrations, office moves, network build-outs, and security projects can all be delivered as standalone, fixed-price engagements.

What makes you different from a larger MSP?

You work directly with an experienced engineer who knows your environment, instead of explaining your setup to a different person each time you call. You get the same enterprise-grade tools and discipline, with a local partner who's accountable for the outcome.

Still have a question?

Send it over. You'll get a real answer from the person who would actually be doing the work.
